In China and Tibet the berries are usually eaten raw or made into teas and soups. If you look for Asian recipes using the dried berries you will find such things as chicken soup that contain goji berries or a warm hot grain cereal that has goji berries added to it. Asians often make a tea by boiling herbs and the goji fruit in water for their anti-aging formulas.
If you look at recipes from the U.S. you will find recipes that call for the goji berries to be soaked overnight (or even for 15-20 minutes to soften them) and whipped in a blender in the morning. This “goji puree” is then the base for a smoothie or delicious drink.
Goji Berries can be used in many ways. Like other dried fruits, goji berries can be added to smoothies, nuts and seeds, trail mix, muesli, breakfast cereals, porridge and yoghurt. Or, simply eat by the handful as they are, as a wonderful nutritious and healthy snack! Although they are best eaten in their raw state to maintain potency, they can also be used as an ingredient in cakes, cookies, snack bars etc or made into a delicious tea.
You can even add a handful of goji berries to a bottle of water or and enjoy your water with a hint of goji sweetness; by the time you finish your water, you'll have soft and plump berries to gobble down.
If you feel the goji berries is too dry, you can stream it for few minutes, then leave it until cool, then eat it. |
