Polyunsaturated or monounsaturated oils are often called the good fats because small amounts may actually help to reduce cholesterol levels. They include:
Canola (or rapeseed) oil
Corn oil
Olive oil
Peanut oil
Safflower oil
Sesame oil
Soybean oil
The American Heart Association suggests using a total of no more than 5 to 8 teaspoons of oil a day for cooking, baking, and in salads.
