An Shen Ji
-->zhu sha an shen wan
Pin-yin: zhu sha an shen wan
English name: Cinnabar Pill to Calm the Spirit
Component: Cinnabaris(zhu sha), Rhizoma Coptidis(huang lian), Honey-fried Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis(zhi gan cao), Radix Rehmanniae Glutinosae(sheng di huang), Radix Angelicae Sinensis(dang gui)
Function: Sedates the heart, calms the spirit, drains fire, and nourishes the yin.
Clinic Usage: This formula primarily clears heat from the heart, which depletes the blood and the yin. It treats consequential vexation and insomnia, dream disturbed sleep, continuous fright palpitations, a sensation of irritability and heat in the chest, dry heaves, a red tongue without coating, and a thin, rapid pulse.
Cautions: To avoid mercury poisoning, Cinnabaris should not be taken over a long period of time.
