English name: Great Yin Toning Pill
Component: Radix Anemarrhenae Asphodeloidis(zhi mu), Cortex Phellodendri(huang bai), Radix Rehmanniae Glutinosae Conquitae(shu di huang), Plastrum Testudinis(gui ban), Marrow from Pigs' Vertebrae(zhu ji sui)
Function: Enriches the yin and causes fire to descend.
Clinic Usage: This formula treats upward-rising of fire due to liver and kidney deficiency. Symptoms include steaming-bone disorder with afternoon tidal fever, night sweats, spontaneous emissions, coughing with blood, irritability, a sensation of heat and pain in the knees and legs which is sometimes accompanied by weakness, a red tongue with little coating, and a pulse which is rapid and forceful.
Cautions: This formula is not suited for patients with poor appetite and loose stools. Nor is it suited for symptoms caused by measurable fever.
