English name: Generate the Pulse Powder
Component: Radix Ginseng(ren shen), Tuber Ophiopogonis Japonici(mai dong), Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis(wu wei zi)
Pharmacological Effect: 1) Strengthens the heart, 2) increases blood supply of the coronary arterial flow, 3) regulates the metabolism of myocardium, improves the ability to resist anoxia, 4) prevents arrhythmia, 5) improves microcirculation, prevents shocks, 6) improves immunity propensity, 7) prevents the formation of thrombus, 8) prevents weakening from aging, 9) sedative, alleviates pain, prevents swellings and tumors.
Function: Augments the qi, generates fluids, preserves the yin, and stops excessive sweating.
Clinic Usage: This formula treats profuse sweating as in heatstroke, which injures qi and yin. Symptoms include fatigue, shortness of breath, dry throat, thirst, and a weak, thin pulse. It may also treat chronic coughing and deficient lungs, which causes deficiency of qi and yin. Symptoms include chronic cough with sparse sputum, shortness of breath, spontaneous sweating, a dry mouth and tongue, a thinly-coated tongue with insufficient saliva, and a rapid or thin pulse. Modern practitioners often use this formula for treatment of 1) cardiogenic shock due to myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, angina pectoris, 2) infectious shock, 3) arrhythmia.
Cautions: This formula is used most often in the summer for best results.
