| Clinic Usage: |
This formula is for symptoms including fever and chills, coughing, wheezing, white, stringy sputum difficult to expectorate. The chief ingredient Herba Ephedrae (ma huang) releases the exterior and disperses cold. It relieves the spasm of muscles around bronchia, and alleviates wheezing and coughing. Other ingredients Ramulus Cinnamomi Cassiae (gui zhi), Herba cum Radice Asari (xi xin), and Rhizoma Zingiberis Officinalis (gan jiang) augment blood vessels and help the patients sweat, releasing heat. They work with Herba Ephedrae (ma huang) to release the exterior and disperse cold, warm the spleen, and effectively treat the primary cause of congested fluids. Another ingredient, Rhizoma Pinelliae Ternatae (ban xia), transforms congested fluids and helps to alleviate wheezing and coughing. Radix Paeoniae Lactiflorae (bai shao) and Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis (wu wei zi) nourish the blood and nutritive qi, prevent the leakage of lung qi, and prevent excessive perspiration. The envoy ingredient, honey-fried Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis (zhi gan cao), transforms congested fluids and harmonizes the interaction of the acrid and sour herbs. Together with these herbs, this formula expels exterior cold disorders and transforms congested fluids. It is recommended for symptoms caused by externally contracted wind-cold. |
