Kai Qiao Ji
--> zhi bao dan
Pin-yin: zhi bao dan
English name: Greatest Treasure Pill
Component: Cornu Rhinoceri(xi jiao), Cinnabaris(zhu sha), Realgar(xiong huang), Carapax Eretmochelydis Imbricatae(dai mao), Succinum(hu po), Secretio Moschus(she xiang), Borneol(long nao xiang), Calculus Bovis(niu huang), Benzoinum(an xi xiang)
Function: Clears heat, opens the sensory orifices, transforms turbidity, and relieves toxicity.
Clinic Usage: This formula is for heat illness, which is usually associated with summer heatstroke, wind-stroke, or the advanced stage of a warm-febrile disease. Symptoms include fever, irritability and restlessness, delirium, impaired consciousness, a red tongue with a greasy, yellow coating, and an uneven, rapid pulse.
Cautions: This formula is contraindicated during pregnancy. Also it contains many drying, aromatic ingredients which have a tendency to consume the yin and fluids. It should therefore not be used in treating cases with significant yin deficiency.
