English name: Pinellia and Magnolia Bark Decoction
Component: Rhizoma Pinelliae Ternatae(ban xia), Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis(hou po), Folium Perillae Frutescentis(zi su), Sclerotium Poriae Cocos(fu ling), Rhizoma Zingiberis Officinalis Recens(sheng jiang)
Function: Promotes the movement of qi, dissipates clumps, directs negative qi downward and transforms phlegm.
Clinic Usage: This formula treats the condition of plum-pit qi, in which the patients feel as if something is caught in the throat that can neither be swallowed or ejected, a stifling sensation in the chest and hypochondria. They also tend to be quick tempered and irritable.
Caution: This formula is not for patients presenting symptoms of plum-pit qi but without heat symptom.
