Component: Radix Pulsatillae Chinensis(bai tou weng), Cortex Rhellodendri(huang bai), Rhizoma Coptidis(huang lian), Cortex Fraxini(qin pi)
Function: Clears heat and alleviates dysenteric disorders.
Clinic Usage: This formula treats hot dysenteric disorder due to heat toxin. Symptoms include abdominal pain, tenesmus, a burning sensation around the anus, diarrhea containing more blood than pus, thirst, a red tongue with a yellow coating and a wiry, rapid pulse.
Cautions: Modern practitioners often use this formula for disorders such as acute bacillary dysentery and amebic dysentery.
