English name: Peony Decoction
Component: Radix Paeoniae (shao yao), Radix Angelicae Sinensis(dang gui), Rhizoma Coptidis(huang lian), Semen Arecae Catechu(bing lang), Radix Aucklandiae Lappae(mu xiang), Radix Flycyrrhizae Uralensis(gan cao), Radix et Rhei Rhizoma(da huang), Radix Scutellariae(huang qin), Cortex Cinnamomi Loureiroi(guan gui)
Function: Regulates and harmonizes the qi and blood, clears heat and relieves toxicity.
Clinic Usage: This formula treats dysentery due to damp-heat in the intestines. Symptoms include abdominal pain, diarrhea with pus and blood, tenesmus, a burning sensation around the anus, dark, scanty urine and a greasy, yellow-coated tongue.
Cautions: This formula should be used for dysenteric disorders caused by damp-heat.
