Wen Li Ji

Pin-yin:	shen fu tang

English name:	Ginseng and Prepared Aconite Decoction

Component:

Pharmacological Effect:	1) strengthens the heart, 2) prevents shock, 3) prevents myocardial infarction, 4) expands coronary artery and surrounding vessels, 5) prevents arrhythmia, 6) increases endurance in an anoxic condition, 7) prevents assembling of thrombocytes and 8) increases immunity.

Function:	Restores the yang and prevents the qi from collapse.

Clinic Usage:	This formula is for yang deficiency with severe deficiency of the source qi and sudden collapse of the yang qi. Symptoms include cold extremities, dizziness, shortness of breath, sweating and a frail pulse. Modern practitioners often use this formula for 1) cardiogenic shock, 2) cardiac failure and 3) arrhythmia.

Cautions:	This is a very strong formula designed for the treatment of acute conditions. It should not be administered for extended periods.
