English name: Major Decoction for Chest Sinking Disorder
Component: Radix et Rhizoma Rhei(da huang), Mirabilitum(mang xiao), Radix Euphorbiae Kansui(gan sui)
Function: Drains heat and dispels water.
Clinic Usage: This formula treats clumping in the chest. Symptoms include fullness and hardness of the epigastrium or the entire abdomen with severe pain that cannot bear even a very slight pressure, severe constipation, tidal fever at dusk, thirst, a very dry tongue coating, and a rapid, strong pulse.
Cautions: Modern practitioners also use this formula for acute pancreatitis and acute ileus
