English name:	Fenugreek seed

Where grown:	Northeast, north and south China.

Source:	Dried, ripe seed of Trigonella foenum-graecum L.

Ingredients:	Diosgenin-ß-D-glucoside, Dioscin, 25D-Spirosta-3,5-diene, Tigogenin, Gitogenin, Yamogenin, Vitexin, Isoorientin, Quercetin, Luteolin

Properties:	Bitter, warm

Channels entered:	Kidney

Function:	Warms kidney yang and the elixir field (the region between heart and umbilicus), and dispels cold-dampness.

Major Clinic Usage:	For soreness in the lower back due to kidney deficiency, hernia, swelling, bearing-down or twitching pain on testis, and beriberi due to cold-dampness.

Cautions:	Contraindicated in cases of yin deficiency with strong fire signs or damp-heat symptoms.

Usage and Dosage:	4.5~9g

Storage:	Store in a dry place.
