English name: Golden eye-grass rhizome
Where grown: Southwest China.
Source: Dried rhizome of Curculigo orchioides Gaertn.
Ingredients: Lycorine, Yuccagenin
Properties: Acrid, hot, toxic
Channels entered: Kidney, liver, spleen
Function: Warms kidney yang and strengthens muscle and joints.
Major Clinic Usage: For impotence, urinary incontinence, vaginal discharge, cold and painful heart and abdomen, numbness in the lower back and feet due to cold, carbuncles and toxic swellings.
Cautions: The herb has a dry and hot property, which may injure yin. Contraindicated in cases of yin deficiency with strong fire signs.
Usage and Dosage: 3~12g
Storage: Store in a dry place. Protect from worm infestation.
