English name:	Zedoary rhizome

Where grown:	Central and south China.

Source:	Dried rhizome of Curcuma phaeocaulis Val..

Ingredients:	sesquiterpenoid alcohols, Curcumol, Zederone, Curdione, Curcumenol, Furanodienone, Curcolone, Zedoarone, Dehydrocurdione

Pharmacological effect:	1) Effect on intestines - the herbal extract has an inhibiting effect on intestine contraction in mice. Also can promote carbon particle transportation in intestines. 2) Others - has an inhibiting effect on sarcomas formation in mice. Also showed good treatment effect on experimental liver disturbance.

Properties:	Acrid, bitter, warm

Channels entered:	Spleen, liver

Function:	Promotes movement of qi, dispels stasis, reduces food accumulation, disperses pathogenic lumps and relieves pain.

Major Clinic Usage::	For food stagnancy, distended chest, masses in abdomen, amenorrhea due to blood stasis and traumatic injuries.

Cautions:	Contraindicated during pregnancy or patients with menorrhagia symptom.

Usage and Dosage:	6~9g

Storage:	Store in a dry place. Protect from worm infestation.
