English name: Dalbergia heartwood
Where grown: South China.
Source: Dried heartwood of Dalbergia odorifera T. Chen.
Ingredients: Dalbergin, Nordalbergin
Pharmacological effect: This herb has anti-coagulant and anti-inflammatory properties. It can also increase the blood flow of coronary artery and regulate heartbeats.
Properties: Acrid, warm
Channels entered: Heart, liver
Function: Invigorates blood, disperses blood stasis, stops bleeding and alleviates pain.
Major Clinic Usage: For chest and rib cage pain and traumatic injuries. It can also dispel turbidity and treat coronary heart disease.
Cautions: Contraindicated in cases of yin deficiency with strong fire signs and bleeding due to heat in the blood but without stasis.
Usage and Dosage: 3~6g. To take in powders, 1~2g per dose.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place.
