Where grown: Throughout China.
Source: Dried whole plant of Leonurus sibiricus L.
Ingredients: Ieonurine, Pyrocatechol
Pharmacological effect: Active ingredient leonurine has a slight uterus contraction effect in rabbits.
Properties: Bitter, acrid, slightly cold
Channels entered: Liver, heart
Function: Replenishes vital essence to improve vision, invigorates blood, regulates qi, tones qi in the middle burner, removes masses and generates new blood. Also can regulate menstruation.
Major Clinic Usage: For irregular menstruation, blood discharge, blood in the urine, bloody hemorrhoids, carbuncles, traumatic injuries and swellings.
Cautions: Contraindicated during pregnancy.
Usage and Dosage: 9~30g. 12~40g if fresh herb is used.
Storage: Store dried herb in a dry place. Store fresh herb in a cool, damp place.
