Where grown: Throughout China.
Source: Dried whole plant of Lycopus lucidus Turcz.
Pharmacological effect: The herbal extract can extend blood coagulation time in mice.
Properties: Bitter, acrid, slightly warm
Channels entered: Liver, spleen
Function: Invigorates blood, dispels blood stasis, removes blockage for nine orifices (eyes, ears, nostrils, mouth, urethra, anus), relieves rigidity of muscles and joints and regulates menstruation.
Major Clinic Usage: For postpartum abdominal pain, pain in the lower back during menstruation, blood stasis due to traumatic injury, ocular disease due to pathogenic wind in the head, carbuncles, swelling with pus and irregular menstruation.
Cautions: Use with caution if blood stasis symptom is missing.
Usage and Dosage: 6~12g
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place.
