| Pharmacological effect: |
1) Effect on the heart: preparations of Herba Lemnae seu Spirodelae(fu ping) have been shown to reverse the negative inotropic effect of quinine on frog hearts. Calcium can enforce the function. Extremely large doses cause the heart to stop in systole and blood pressure to rise. 2) Temperature regulation effect: it has a weak antipyretic effect in treating fevers induced by inoculation of typhoid bacilli and vaccine into rabbits. 3) Other effects: it has a negative reaction experimenting on virus and malaria. It effectively exterminates the larvae and pupae of mosquitoes. |
