cinnamic aldehyde, cinnamyl acetate. |
| Pharmacological effect: |
1) Temperature regulation effect: cinnamic aldehyde has an antipyretic effect by vasodilation. 2) Effect on convulsion constraint: this herb constrains central nervous system. 3) Effect on digestion system: the herbt constrains large white mice's gastric ulcer and promotes the secretion of bile. 4) Antibiotic effect: the herb has a strong inhibitory effect against certain organisms such as Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi. |

| Cautions: |
The acrid and warm property of the herb promotes heat. It facilitates flow of blood but may injure yin. It is contraindicated in cases of warm-febrile diseases, deficient yin, excessive yang, and heat in the blood with vomiting. Use with caution during pregnancy or excessive menstruation. |
