English name:	Vitex fruit

Where grown:	In the central, southern, Yunnan and Guangxi areas of China.

Source:	The dried, ripe fruit of Vitex rotundifolia L. or V. trifolia L.
Ingredients:	Vitexicarpin, Rotundifuran, Agnuside, Artemetin, Uitricin, a-Pinene, ß-sitosterol
Pharmacological effect:	Treatment of hypertension: the preparations have the effect of lowering rabbit blood pressure. The parasympathetic nervous system may be stimulated.

Properties:	Acrid, bitter, slightly cold

Channels entered:	Bladder, liver, stomach

Function:	Disperses wind and clears heat, clears and benefits the head and eyes.

Major Clinic Usage:	For wind-heat flu, headache, hemicrania, toothache, red eyes, painful spots in front of the eyes, blurred vision, excessive tearing, wind-dampness in the limbs, numbness, or cramping.
Cautions:	Use with caution in cases of dizziness and headache due to blood deficiency and in cases of stomach qi deficiency.

Usage and Dosage:	5~9g
