| Ingredients: |
Arctiin, l-arctigenin, matairesinol, lappaol A, lappaol B2, isoarctignin and fatty oils. |
| Pharmacological effect: |
1) Antibiotic effect: water-prepared Fructus Arctii Lappae(niu bang zi) has shown a significant effect in vitro inhibition. 2) Endocrine effect: the herb extract showed a hypoglycemic effect in large white mice. It also showed significant tolerance for carbohydrate. 3) Other side effects: large doses of arctiin may cause cramps in frogs, small white mice and rabbits. It may also cause feeble breathing, inability to control voluntary muscles and unconsciousness. |

This herb moistens the intestines. It is contraindicated in cases of qi deficiency and diarrhea. |
