Cimitin, cimigenol, Visnagin, Visamminol |
| Pharmacological effect: |
1) Temperature regulation effect: the methanol extract has the effect in reducing temperature. 2) Analgesic effect: the prepared Rhizoma Cimicifugae(sheng ma) relieves pain and convulsion with its active ingredients visamminol and visnagin. 3) Treatment of edema: the methanol extract is efficient constraining edema of large white mice caused via artificial induction by carrageenin. 4) Other effects: sedative, hypertension control, and constrains anal ulcer of large white mice induced by acetic acid. |

| Major Clinic Usage: |
For seasonal epidemic headache, chills and fever, rashes not surfacing, sore throat, ulcer in the mouth, edema due to toxin, vaginal discharge, menorrhagia, dysenteric disorder, tenesmus and chronic diarrhea. |
| Cautions: |
Contraindicated in cases of yin deficiency and for patterns where the upper is excessive and the lower is deficient. Also contraindicated in cases of fully erupted measles. |
