Where grown: South China.
Source: Dried resin obtained from Liquidambar orientalis Mill.
Ingredients: Methylchavicol, ß-Asarone
Properties: Acrid, warm
Channels entered: Heart, spleen
Function: Opens orifices, unblocks areas of constraint and dispels phlegm.
Major Clinic Usage: For stroke, phlegm obstruction, epilepsy and sudden collapse due to epidemic. Often use with Benzoinum(an xi xiang), Secretio Moschus(she xiang), Borneol(bing pain) and Flos Caryophylli(ding xiang).
Usage and Dosage: 0.3~1g. Take in pills or powders.
Storage: Place the herb in a metal box and cover with water. Keep tightly sealed and store in a cool place.
