English name: Aloeswood, aquilaria
Where grown: In Guangdong, Guangxi, and Taiwan.
Source: The wooden core of Aquilaria sinensis (Lour.) Gilg and its family.
Ingredients: A. agallocha, Agarospirol
Properties: Acrid, bitter, slightly warm
Channels entered: Spleen, stomach, kidney
Function: Promotes qi, warms middle burner, directs negative qi down, calms wheezing,
Major Clinic Usage: For vomiting, dry heaves, pain in the heart or abdomen, stagnant qi in the large intestine, deficient cold in waist and knees, and distended chest and diaphragm with a sensation of fullness.
Cautions: For the acrid and warm nature of the herb, it stimulates heat. Use with caution in cases of yin deficiency and excessive heat.
Usage and Dosage: 1.5~4.5g. Add to decoction before finishing
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, tightly sealed container.
