English name: Immature tangerine peel
Where grown: In south China.
Source: The immature fruit peel of Citrus reticulata Blanco and its family.
Ingredients: Nobiletin, 3,4,5,6,7-Penta-O-Methylflavone, HCSpCriaine, Neohesperidine, Limonin, a-Heptyl-ß-nonylacrolein, 5-Hydroxyauranetin, Naringin, Myrcene, P-Cymene
Pharmacological effect: The preparation has a serotonin inhibition effect on rabbit's uterine muscle.
Properties: Bitter, acrid, warm
Channels entered: Liver, gall, stomach
Function: Spreads liver qi, breaks up stagnant qi, dissipates clumps and reduces stagnation.
Major Clinic Usage:
For distended, painful chest and rib cage, hernial disorders, nodule in the breast, breast abscess, abdominal pain caused by stagnant food.
Cautions: This is a strong herb which consumes qi. Use with care in cases of qi deficiency.
Usage and Dosage: 3~9g.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place.
