Where grown: Central and south China.
Source: Dried rhizome of Dioscorea hypoglauca Palib. or Dioscorea septemloba Thunb.
Ingredients: Dioscin, Tokorogenin, Gracillin, Kogagenin, Diosgenin, Yamogenin, Yononin, Tokoronin, Dimethyl-terephthalate, Furost-5-ene-3ß,22,26-f riol 3,26-bis-O-glycoside
Properties: Bitter, neutral
Channels entered: Liver, stomach, bladder
Function: Expels wind and dampness and separates the pure from the turbid.
Major Clinic Usage: For arthritis due to wind-cold, numbness and soreness in the lower back and knees, turbid urination, stranguria and leukorrhea, edema due to nephritis.
Cautions: Contraindicated in cases of kidney or yin deficiency.
Usage and Dosage: 10~15g
Storage: Store in a dry place. Protect from dampness.
