English name:	Stephania root
Where grown:	Central and south China.

Source:	Dried root of Aritolochia heterophylla Hemsl or Stephania tetrandra S. Moore.
Pharmacological effect:	Effect on free histamine - the herbal extract has an inhibiting effect on lungs generated anaphylactic mediator in mice.

Properties:	Bitter, cold

Channels entered:	Bladder, kidneys, spleen

Function:	Promotes urination, leaches out dampness, expels wind and alleviates pain.

Major Clinic Usage:	For edema, accumulated water in abdomen, beriberi and arthritis.

Usage and Dosage:	5~10g

Storage:	Store in a dry place. Protect from mold and worm infestation.
