| Pharmacological effect: |
1) Convulsion inhibiting effect: prepared herb has an inhibiting effect on convulsions in mice. It also controls rabbits' hind leg muscle contraction. 2) Effect on blood pressure: injection of prepared herb can lower blood pressure in rabbits. The effect is not impacted by atropine. 3) Effect on smooth muscle: has a contraction effect on intestines and uterine muscles in rabbits. |

| Major Clinic Usage: |
For high blood pressure, dizziness, vertigo, externally contracted wind-heat, red eyes, and convulsions during pregnancy. Use with Cornu Antelopis(yang jiao), Cornu Rhinoceri(xi jiao), Rhizoma Gastrodiae Elatae(tian ma), Scorpio(chuan xie) to treat childhood convulsions, spasms and acute convulsions. |
