| Major Clinic Usage: |
For dysentery with bloody stool due to heat toxin. If dysentery is caused by parasite, use with Cortex Fraxini(qin pi) and Rhizoma Coptidis(huang lian) for better effect. Also use for treatment of fever and chills due to pyrexial malaria, nosebleeds and bleeding hemorrhoids. It has very astringent effect on intestinal mucous membrane and could help stop bleeding and diarrhea. |

Contraindicated in cases of dysentery due to cold deficiency. |
