Where grown: Throughout China.
Source: Dried rhizome of Phragmites communis Trin.
Ingredients: Coixol, protein, fat, lignin, xylan
Properties: Sweet, cold
Channels entered: Lung, stomach
Function: Clears heat, generates saliva, stops vomiting and removes irritability.
Major Clinic Usage: For febrile disease which causes dehydration, irritability, fever, thirst, dried tongue with insufficient saliva secretion, vomiting due to heat in the stomach, coughing with thick sputum and scanty, dark urine.
Cautions: For better effect, use fresh herbs.
Usage and Dosage: 15~30g. Double the dose if fresh herb is used. It can also be used by smashing the herb and drinking the juice.
Storage: Store in a clean place. Fresh herb can be kept in damp sands.
