Where grown: South and central China.
Source: Dried root and stem of Paris polyphylla Smith.
Ingredients: Various alkaloid.
Pharmacological effect: Has anti-microbial, anti-viral properties and an inhibiting effect on smooth muscle.
Properties: Bitter, slightly cold, slightly toxic
Channels entered: Liver
Function: Clears heat, relieves toxicity, reduces swelling, alleviates pain, extinguishes wind and calms convulsions.
Major Clinic Usage: For ulcers, wounds, toxic swellings, venom of snake bites, impaired consciousness and convulsions due to warm-febrile disease and bleeding due to traumatic injuries.
Usage and Dosage: 5~10g. In decoctions or pills.
