English name: Gentiana macrophylla root
Where grown: North and west China.
Source: Dried root of Gentiana macrophlla Pall.
Ingredients: GentianineA, Gentialutine, Gentioflavine, Gentioside
Properties: Acrid, bitter, neutral
Channels entered: Stomach, liver, gallbladder
Function: Dispels wind and dampness, harmonizes blood, soothes sinews, clears heat and is diuretic.
Major Clinic Usage: For damp arthralgia due to pathogenic wind-cold, spasms in the joints, hectic fever due to consumption, jaundice, blood in the stool, lockjaw, toothache, fever due to infantile malnutrition, urination difficulties and wind-dryness syndromes.
Cautions: Contraindicated in cases of weakness due to extended period of illness and patients with frequent urination or loose stool.
Usage and Dosage: 3~9g
Storage: Store in a dry place.
