Source: Dried fruit of Schizandra chinensis (Turcz.)Baill.
Ingredients: Schizandrin, a-Chamigrene, Gomisins
Pharmacological effect: 1) Active ingredient schizamdrin can lower body temperature in mice. It can also alleviate pain. A large dosage helps relax muscle. For gastrointestinal tract, it has an inhibiting effect on ulcers and secretion of gastric juice. With a dosage of 25mg/kg, it can stimulate secretion of bile. For heart, it can reduce heartbeats in mice. For liver, it can lower ascending GOT and GPT in mice. 2) Active ingredient gamisin A can inhibit spontaneous activities and lower body temperature in mice. It can also alleviate coughing, inhibit ulcers, reduce heartbeats and promote or lower GOT and GPT in mice with different doses.
