English name:	Stemona root

Where grown:	North, south and central China.

Source:	Dried rhizome of Stemona sessilifolia (Miq.) Miq and its family.

Ingredients:	Sessilistemonine, Hordonine, Tuberostemonine, Protostemonine, Stemonine, Stemonidine, Isostemonidine, Stemonamine, Isostemonamine, Stenine

Pharmacological effect:	1) Anti-microbial effect: the decoction and alcohol solution have inhibiting effect on various germs. 2) Exterminating effect: the herb solution can exterminate larvae of mosquitoes, flies, lice and fleas. High-density solution can kill parasites of mice. 3) The extract of this herb is also effective in preventing convulsions.

Properties:	Sweet, bitter, slightly warm

Function:	Moistens lung, alleviates coughing, eradicates parasites and exterminates fleas.

Major Clinic Usage:	For coughing due to wind cold, whooping cough, tuberculosis, senile coughing and wheezing, roundworms, parasites, scabies and eczema.
