English name: Datura flower
Where grown: South China.
Source: Dried flower of Datura metel L.
Ingredients: Hyosine, Hyoscyamine
Pharmacological effect: Has sedative properties, prevents shock, and has an inhibiting effect on parasympathetic nerves.
Properties: Acrid, warm, toxic
Channels entered: Lung, bladder
Function: Alleviates coughing, calms wheezing, alleviates pain and has sedative properties.
Major Clinic Usage: For coughing with or without sputum, painful chill in heart and abdomen, arthritis, traumatic injuries, epilepsy and convulsions.
Cautions: This herb is highly toxic. The dosage should be controlled carefully. Use with care during pregnancy, and in cases of glaucoma, hypertension, and heart disease.
Usage and Dosage: 0.3~0.6g. Use proper amount for external application.
Storage: Store in a dry, well-ventilated place.
