English name:	Fritillary bulb

Where grown:	Central China.

Source:	The dried bulb of Fritillaria thunbergii Miq.

Ingredients:	Peimine, Peiminine, Peiminoside

Pharmacological effect:	1) Ingredients are effective in removing phlegm and alleviating coughing in small mice. 2) Calms wheezing in cats and rabbits. 3) Lowers blood pressure in animal experiments. 4) Others: increases peristalsis of intestines and stimulates the smooth muscle of uterus in rabbits. Also has sedative and analgesic effects on small mice.

Properties:	Bitter, cold

Channels entered:	Lung, heart

Function:	Moistens heart and lung, transforms dry phlegm, dissipates clumps and relieves toxicity. It is particularly effective clearing heat and dissipating clumps.

Major Clinic Usage:	For coughing and lung soreness due to wind-heat, inflammation in the throat, scrofula, carbuncles and toxic swellings.

Cautions:	Do not use with Radix Aconiti(wu tou).

Usage and Dosage::	4.5~9g

Storage:	Store in a dry place. Avoid dampness and infestation by worms.
