English name:	Galangal rhizome
Where grown:	South China.

Source:	The dried rhizome of Alpinia officinarum Hance.
Ingredients:	Cineole, Methyl cinnamate
Pharmacological effect:	1) Is anti-microbial. 2) Can stimulate stomach and improve digestion.

Properties:	Acrid, hot

Channels entered:	Stomach, spleen

Function:	Warms the middle and alleviates pain.

Major Clinic Usage:	For abdominal pain due to cold, vomiting and diarrhea.
Cautions:	Use with caution in cases of yin deficiency with strong fire signs.

Usage and Dosage:	3~10g
