Where grown: North China.
Source: The dried rhizome of Euphorbia kansui Liou.
Ingredients: Euphol, ß-euphorbol, Tirucallol
Pharmacological effect: 1) Diuretic effect - the liquid extract has no such effect, but ether extract has a good diuretic effect. 2) Analgesic effect - ingredient Kansuinine A is effective in alleviating pain.
Properties: Bitter, cold, toxic
Channels entered: Lung, kidney, large intestine
Function: Drains water, dispels congested fluids, expels stagnation and facilitates urination and defecation. It purges where dampness clogs.
Major Clinic Usage: For edema, distention, prolonged edema (use with Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis(gan cao) powder and apply to the region around navel may reduce edema and has a diuretic effect. The mixture may be used in any distended abdomen and edema symptoms.), accumulation in the chest, stasis, difficult urination and defecation.
Usage and Dosage: 0.5~1.5g. Use in pills or powders.
Storage: Store in a dry, tightly sealed place. Protect from worm infestation.
